The Dictionary Editor allows you to quickly add a data file to the dictionary by creating a data definition based on an existing data file.

1.With the **Dictionary Explorer** dialog active, select **Import Tables **from the DCT Explorer toolbar as shown:

The **Table Import Wizard** dialog displays.

2.From the **Select Server** drop list, select the appropriate import source. You can import tables directly, or select another dictionary as the import source.

3.Press the ellipsis button to the right of the **Select Dictionary** entry. The **Select Database** drive dialog appears. Prompts will vary here based on the type of input source (Dictionary, SQL Source, or ISAM table).

4.The Dictionary Editor imports the file definition(s). Double-click on any of the imported tables to edit any properties if needed.

The data file is added to the dictionary, along with its field and key definitions.
