If your Dictionary is currently empty, you should only see three folders in the DCT Explorer.

1.Right-click on the //Tables// folder, and select **Add** **Table **from the popup menu.

The [[softvelocity datadictionary editor tableeditor.htm|New Table Properties]] dialog appears.

2.On the **General** tab, type the **Name**, the **Prefix**, and choose the **Database Driver **for your data file.

3.Press **OK **to close the dialog.

Your file (table) is added to the dictionary. You may, of course, specify additional table properties if you want. You may add more tables by repeating the above steps.

You can also add a new table from the DCT Explorer toolbar if any existing table is selected and you press the Add {{dctaddtable.jpg|DCTAddTable.jpg}} button
